Stories of Healing | Update from the Kents

me more well good afternoon and welcome to the crowd live stream that's not live it's great that you're here with us uh welcome to crowd church great you're here and the reason i say that is because throughout the month of august the live streams which are going out uh on facebook and youtube are all pre-recorded dan and i are not live right now we have pre-recorded this uh week session because everyone at crowd has just taken a month off uh during august we appreciate people need holidays and rest and so that's what we're doing but we still wanted to connect with you guys still wanted to put content out there so we were pre-recorded these ahead of time so if you're wondering why we don't respond to comments uh as they come up uh on the live stream that's why basically uh we will respond in time so do keep writing do keep posting your comments and your questions we just won't be doing it in real time we are going to be hopefully having some rest ourselves in the month of august that's the explanation dan let everybody do that yes yes yes for some reason so let them know about crowd church but what is crowd church and why should they keep watching crowd church is a way to get involved in church at your own pace really got any questions that we've done for a series how many weeks now what does the bible say so anything in a year any questions you got do a bit of a google and find out have a listen to people doing a talk on it and questions and if you've got questions even about an old um talk then yeah send them in and we'd love to answer them and uh pray for you to to know know more about this god we do it because we love god and um yeah we do indeed an online church is just another way to find out more it's a pretty safe way actually it's a pretty easy way uh to explore faith i think in the christian faith because you can be really anonymous but you can still ask your questions and comments and so um yeah that's what crowd church is we're on online church just means we don't have a building yet i mean i'm in a building now but it's not do you mean we're doing this digitally aren't we so yeah uh so yeah and so that's what crowd church is it's great that you're here if you're regular to crowd church it is fab that you are here if you're new to crowd church it is also fab that you are here basically it's family you're here we like people uh so yes that is who we are it's great that you're here and today uh we dan are gonna get a bit of an update from chris and beth kent and they are gonna be oh yeah it's gonna be great uh if you if you i've been oops i'm dropping my pen uh if you are a regular crowd church you'll remember that we've had chris on a number of the live streams in the past chris has been a friend of crowd church for a while absolute legend uh chris and beth and or legends uh should i say they're absolute legends and they do how long ago was it then they went to tennessee do you remember it wasn't that long ago was it no it wasn't long at all um i'm rubbish with times yeah those don't ask me dates i'm going to say a year i don't think it's that long but let's let's i think it's under a year uh but it's been a short amount of time and they felt um god tell them to leave the uk and go and church plan and run a church in tennessee in the us and um chris has beth been regulars at our church in liverpool and uh known him for a number of years so everyone was very excited for these guys and obviously we were sorry to see them go but we're very excited for the states and what was going on over there so we thought it would be great to get a bit of an update from them to see how it's going over in tennessee and they have put together this short video with some stories um or testimonies if you like the christian vernacular of what has happened or what is happening at their church in tennessee now that sounds particularly dull and boring if you are new to church like why do i want to hear church updates well some of the stories where in fact all of the stories are basically that they're going to share all of the stories are what we call healing testimonies this is where people were suffering with some kind of pain or ailment some sickness some problem and god it appears as miraculously healed them and so i wanted to play this and then dan and i are going to be back to talk about their stories uh and to sort of dig in some of the questions we get asked a lot around prayer and does god heal today and so on and so forth so this i think dan is a good platform upon to build that conversation uh and so it's gonna be good it's gonna be epic it's gonna be beth and chris so anything else from you mr orange on this before we play the talk no i i'm very much looking forward to this absolutely sit back and take it in absolutely so uh yeah do listen to chris and beth share these stories after they finish we're gonna have a worship song uh which is something that we normally do after the talk sing along if you are able or just think about the words come along um and then after the talk dan and i will be back for what is going to be a short sweet version of conversation street so without further ado here is the kent hi crowd church i'm beth and this is my husband chris and uh we are pastors of a church plant here in johnson city tennessee and over the last couple of months we have just been seeing some amazing healings that we wanted to take some time and share with you about yeah so recently um we had a lady come to us she'd had quite a severe car accident and she'd had whiplash which had resulted in real severe pain in her neck and shoulders and she'd been for the past year or so going to physiotherapy she'd been to see different different specialists and ultimately the doctors had said that they were going to have to inject her yearly to sort of numb the the nerve endings and so that she would be pain-free but obviously that would have its own sort of consequences and outcomes and so she was at her wit's end and just one um morning um someone had a word about god healing someone's neck and so they felt a strong impression that god was healing someone's neck we just prayed we just kind of said well lord we just released that and this lady kind of did this and there wasn't any change in the service but when she went home a couple of hours later she actually had a nap and when she woke up she realized that she was turning without pain and it's just been it's just been life-changing for her being able to have mobility back and being able to have full mobility without pain being able to raise her arms which she wasn't able to do before she wasn't able to raise it above shoulder height and so that was amazing and the other part on that story was she was due to start a job the following day and she was literally before coming to church she was just like saying to god i don't know how i'm going to do this job with my neck like this so um that's just another like little add-on to that story um another story is there's a guy in our church and a number of years ago he had um an issue with his eye and it was so severe that he had to have an operation and after the operation he had to lie flat for days on his face he wasn't allowed to move so it was really horrendous anyway he started to develop pain in the other eye so he booked to see a doctor but in the in-between time he came along to church and there was a word someone felt god's give them um that the word of knowledge that someone had an issue with their eye and so he um just in church received prayer and um his eye was totally healed he went along to the doctor the next the that week and they were like there's nothing wrong with your eye you're totally fine he's full of faith the next week he um comes along to church again and there's a word of knowledge this week about someone with hearing issues and um so he stood up for prayer knowing that he had um issues with his hearing god healed him but he wasn't aware of his healing at this point and so he um got in the car with his wife and his wife started talking to him in the normal kind of way that she has to talk to him and he turned around and said why are you shouting at me and then he went and put the tv on and i was like why is it so loud and put it down and at that point they realized that he had been healed so he had two weeks running had these two pretty amazing miracles and then the following week he um was leaving church going out for a picnic with his wife and they were driving along and they saw a yard sale and at the yard sale the guy was selling loads of power tools and stuff that just like made him want to stop and go and see it so he got out of his car and he um started chatting to the guy and that morning at church someone had a word of healing about a word of knowledge about somebody having issues with the soles of their feet and so um as this guy is talking to the owner of the house who's hosting the yard sale he starts talking about the soles of his feet and how they're really hurting how he can't walk he's using a cane and so our friend just said that's that's really interesting because our pastor had a word of knowledge about this can i pray for you and so he prayed for the guy hosting the yard sale and he was instantly healed running across his lawn like totally amazed and blessed that god wanted to heal him yeah the other part of richard's story was to do with his hearing he responded that morning because um the previous night myself and the other pastor of his presence church had been on a little ministry trip which was like an hour away and at this church where we were guests we prayed for someone with hearing loss in both ears i think it was like 85 hearing loss and he he got instantly healed and took out his his hearing aids um and we we know people that live in that city and he's still without his hearing aids still hearing perfectly fine and so it was after that then we came home and said you know this is what we saw and it was like just telling people about it it's like releasing testimony and that sort of um you know for us that means that the god is able to do it again you know we release testimony we we tell people what god has done and it tells us it educates us that god is able to do it again and so that's what happened that morning and we had um we we have a worship night on a wednesday and um we had someone come in and at that time there was someone else being prayed for i can't remember what it was to do with but um but they they were being prayed for and as they came in they said oh i kind of need some prayer as well because um i've got um kit um gallstones or kidney stones and he was in a lot of pain and so we said well sure let's just pray for you so a whole bunch of us just gathered round and and prayed for him and that was kind of like the end of the story um as far as we knew but actually what happened was straight away after being prayed for he went straight to the the gents and was able to pass all of those uh kidney stones pain-free so that was that was quite miraculous and he was um just overwhelmed with god's goodness and god's love and i think that's the thing about healing we can often think that it's it's amazing to see and it's miraculous but actually what's more important is number one that it it transforms people's lives like this is actually has a direct effect on on their lives that god has answered their prayer and and their body is now able to function as it as it should or or whatever it is is pain-free but also um for me the most important thing is that it reveals constantly who god is his nature the bible says that he's loved he's a healer that he he loves his creation and for me those miracles just just back that up it shows us who god is and what he's able to do before i spoke a word you were singing over me you have been so so good to me before i took a breath you breathed your life in me you have been so so kind to me oh the overwhelming never-ending reckless love of god it chases me down fights till i'm found leaves the 99 i couldn't earn it i don't deserve it still you give yourself away never-ending reckless love of god when i was your foe steal your love for when i felt no worth you paid it all for me oh the overwhelming never-ending oh it chases me down fights till i'm found leaves the 99 still you give yourself away overwhelming never ending there's no shadow you won't light up mountain you won't climb up coming after there's no wall you won't kick down lie you won't tear down coming after me mountain you won't climb up coming after me you won't turn out there's no shadow you won't light up a mountain you won't climb up come it after me the snow wall you won't kick down lie you're the of reckless i could endure so there you go uh song by john frank well i mean he didn't write it but he performed it uh the reckless love of god one of my favorite songs talks about the reckless love of god and to demonstrate dan the reckless love of god we had those incredible stories from chris and beth yeah i was just thinking that god's yeah god's pursuit of us and i think he does lots of ways to to show us that he loves us and miracles and healing is it's one of those awesome ways um yeah it is incredible isn't it what did you think when you were listening to them talk i loved it i loved i love hearing people just share of what god's done we i think we get used to it we hear it we hear in church we hear it perhaps in books we've read um but perhaps if you're listening to this you've never heard it like in real life before you've never you might have read about it in a book or it might be well saint such and such prayed for someone back in 1777 and that's why there are saints or you know this this happens isn't it great oh it's marvelous yeah yeah and i mean i loved i loved the stories from chris and beth and if you don't know chris and beth which i imagine most people watching this don't they are such a lovely humble beautiful couple and there's no pretense about them there just isn't so there's there's no agenda for them to tell these stories they just like to tell stories of god's feeling and as long as i've known chris he's loved to tell those stories and so it was great that he he got to share them now it is worth saying right here at the store that chris and beth are based in tennessee johnson city tennessee so if you are from that part of the world uh do check out their website just google johnson his presence church johnson city tennessee which is the name of their church i'm sure they'd love to hear from you but yeah remarkable stories um and it you hear stories like that and it instantly in your head there's a thousand questions right yeah because especially for me i i tend to border on the side of skeptical uh and so i and i mean i i'm not skeptical of what they've said at all but my default is to go hang on a minute i have a question about this and then the other which we are going to get into dan but before we do um have you got a story yourself i know you have so hence the reason i have a question yeah i have yeah and it it it leads on from this in lots of ways because one of the first things i wrote down was beth and chris quite a few times they said and someone had a word so it was like ah yeah someone had a word about um neck problems so i had a word about this another word about that and what often happens in our our churches is that people will be praying perhaps through the week or just before the church service or even through the service and god they feel god has said to them god wants to heal someone of this yeah and i healings healing strangers goddamn calls are amazing i don't know why we don't see everyone healed i don't know but but often god gives these words anyway that's my story i was i'd be pretty much i've been on the couch for about i don't know how long it was four weeks six weeks i slipped a disc in my neck and this is quite a long time ago it was very painful um slowly things started to to get better i went to see a physio and a chiropractor and he did loads of stuff but i could i couldn't move my chin to my shoulder it just wouldn't get that far it got to about there just wouldn't it just wouldn't go any further i got to church and someone had one of these words they said there's something wrong with your neck there's someone out here and they've got a problem with their neck and i thought lots of people got problems with their neck you know it could be it's like when someone says um yeah someone's got a problem with their back and i'm like well you know who hasn't got a problem with their back it's probably a bit yeah exactly so so i sort of was like well i know god wants to heal us even if it's not that specific but okay and then and then someone said and i know this because i've been praying and my since i've been praying this finger has gone numb and i know that it's linked to this finger and i'm pretty sure he said c6 and c7 vertebrae so i was like that's getting quite specific now and my fingers numb and yesterday a friend is a surgeon told me it was um vertebrae six and seven that must be the problem wow so i went out for prayer and i got movement back straight away phenomenal um and yeah it was amazing but no the the best part about it was that although i knew god loved me and i knew god knew me he was just saying to me yeah i really know you i know about you sore finger i knew about the diverted way there and i think sometimes healing is that just to say to us like that guy that had the the hearing and the there's two things wasn't there two two four weeks in the eye yeah it's just saying yeah i know you i love you yeah it's brilliant yeah uh what a fantastic story what a fantastic story and i think it's that sea is one of the things that cannot be taken away um from you do i mean it's one of those things that will stay with you and we can try and rationalize it we can try and create some kind of statement of fact that maybe would explain it away but actually we can't and you know you're just kind of like well it just so happens that's how it worked out and god healed me and it's just one of the many ways that god has impacted my life and i think it's such a remarkable thing to have really um i i i'm glad you explained the word of what they call a word of knowledge in the church for those of you who are outside of the church who haven't been to church before um like dan said there are often times uh in usually when people are praying or in worship or in some kind of um church service or you know maybe at home they're reading the bible or something and you just you just feel like you just sense that god is saying something it's not an audible voice it's not you know schizophrenia or anything like that it's just like actually if god's real he's going to communicate and and we can hear him and it's in different ways maybe it's some of the words that we're reading on a page maybe it's a thought maybe it's a sensation or a feeling i remember uh going back several years when we started doing alpha at frontline i remember on one of the early alpha courses which is um alpha is a course which sort of explores christianity so if you are new to the christian faith if you are just exploring the christian faith and want to know more alpha is a great way to do that and we actually have an online alpha course there's you can do it on our if you go to our website and just click the alpha course link under the talk section you'll see there's like 12 talks i think it is which explain the sort of the fundamentals of christianity and they're worth watching and getting involved with but i remember on the very one of the early alpha courses there's a section or there's a week there's a session which asks the question does god heal today right and so coming back to the healing thing during that talk uh i don't know if you can hear that by the way forgive me there's an airplane just decided to fly over about 10 foot from the top of my my roof uh but um does god heal today i was like i i don't know who this applies to i said i'm just i just feel like god is wanting to heal someone's knee specifically i i think i i can remember whether i said it was the left knee or the right knee i but i was quite specific and i was quite i remember in my knee i personally felt like a burning sensation in a specific part of my knee and so i just happened to say that and a guy said well hang on a minute that that that's mean so we prayed for him and he got instantly healed and so this is where the sort of these words of knowledge if you like can work so the guy that was telling your story down his finger went numb it's like that's a weird way for god to communicate but all right it kind of worked right yeah exactly and it was just what i needed and it was yeah you know my finger had gone numb too it's like god saying yeah i know everything about you yeah yeah yeah it's really fascinating isn't it but of course this leads to some other questions which we have covered before uh so you know does god heal today we've talked about that sally burch did a talk like uh on miracles and that's also worth checking out where we did dig into this because um i mean you said it done you don't understand why not everybody gets healed instantly and of course i'm listening to the story of the lady with the whiplash the one that chris and beth can open with and i'm like well she had whiplash for a year why did why did it take a year dude i mean why that point in time you know the guy uh in the yard sale that had his dodgy feet why did it have to get that far before he he got healed or so there's there are things which i don't get there are things which i don't understand there are always going to be things i don't understand about god it's just the way kind of christianity works right um but damn for you have there been times where maybe you haven't been instantly healed or maybe you've been healed but it's been a process rather than an instant thing yeah i think there's been there's been times where um god has definitely healed me of in situations where he brought a piece about stuff i i in the past have suffered from ibs and sometimes that just comes upon you very abruptly and i've had to be praying and praying and god's taking away that um just that pain and that discomfort that urgency but then there's there's also that there's still something underlying there and i know he's he's working in me and it's not completely gone but yeah it i don't understand that there's people we're praying for um at the moment who've got cancer and it's not gone you know um and you just i don't understand it i know he loves this and i know everything he knows everything about that person um but i don't don't know why but those facts that he loves me are solid and he loves that personal solid um how that all works together i still don't know there are definitely mysteries um and some things can be explained and some things can be understood but sometimes it just can't and there are things where we just have to trust god but i think the thing that i would say to people if you're watching this and you're like well hang on i've had people pray for me and i'm still sick or even worse i've prayed for people and they they've passed away do you mean they they they didn't get healed they died whether or not you are instantly healed miraculously or whether or not you are healed over a process or whether or not you don't experience your healing this side of eternity you have to kind of wait to the other side of eternity to to get that healing it it's not a sign that god loves you any more or any less and i think that's a really important point isn't it that actually we might not understand it and it's hard to rationalize it sometimes but what we do know is that there are some fundamental truths involved in this and it's not that god's mad at you it's not that god loves you any less it's not that god thinks any less of you or someone else is his favorite unless it's me but anyway jameem but it's it's worth understanding those key points um and i think you have to hold on to those truths so we've got esther richards who is going to be on a live stream at the end of august talking ab we we're doing a new podcast called what's the story so in the live stream we're playing a clip from esther's story so make sure you subscribe to get that podcast because it's epic honestly we've got these stories come out what's the story where we deep dive into individual stories and they just sort of tell us what's going on and esther uh tells the story of her struggle uh around mental health and i mean it's it's it's an epic tale and heartbreaking in a lot of ways and she she makes a really interesting statement in in her story she talks about how um you know there was in that instant healing she is a lot better now and but there wasn't that instant healing and all she had at times was just the knowledge that god loved her and she could trust him irrespective of what was going on around her and i think and it's something that chris said actually um it's important the nature of god his love it is important he does heal um but it may not be in the way that you expect but that's not a sign he loves you any less would that be a fair comment mr orange yeah yeah absolutely it's an interesting one isn't it yeah it is but i think that's yeah a very good point to make that um john wesley's got a song and the main sort of refrain of it is his nature and his name is love all about him his love and if you hold on to that he can't do anything else he can't yeah he has to love and in that and why people get healed some people do something i don't know but but i do know for a fact that his nature and his name is is love yes it's all about that yeah no absolutely absolutely so yeah if you're going through hard times and there's unanswered questions our obviously and prayers are with you and uh if you if you want to get in touch we'd love to to hear from you to pray for you to to stand with you to cry with you to laugh with you um because that's what we do in the church and yeah it doesn't life is one of those things it doesn't always work out the way we expected we've covered this a lot in crowd church talking about healings john harding did a talk a few weeks ago about suffering which was epic i mean is there's a lot going on that you know we can't in in in 30 minutes but what i do want to do uh just bringing it back round to uh the kents and their stories is there are still out there these stories of incredible healings where god it's one of my favorite words in the new testament then uh where god suddenly uh you read it you know suddenly the room was full and suddenly this happened and you just gotta go oh i like i like suddenly especially in the culture in which we live i suddenly want ice cream i mean but it's kind of uh is a bit more exciting in the new testament and so there are these instances where suddenly god does the miraculous and he does the amazing and it's not just in healing too is it i mean you've got story after story with your dad on mission trip doing all kinds of crazy things not necessarily healing but just miracle after miracle after miracle right yeah i mean just driving a truck down a muddy slope all the people in the back praying because they're on the way to mongolia over a bridge the back end of the trailer which is a 16-ton trailer is sliding to the side everyone prays they hear a bang somebody pushes that trailer straight and it goes across suddenly you know incredible isn't it all the time i remember being my dad was speaking to some people in a tent and i was really young um mum and me and rest of my brothers and sisters were were outside and the guy comes running past and apparently he went in on crutches it's awesome he's sitting there he went yeah that's funny to see those kind of things really it is funny to see those kind of things and there are some amazing stories and uh you know it and suddenly things happen i saw a cancer tumor this big on a woman's face just instantly disappear before my eyes it was one of the most extraordinary things i've ever seen my entire life um and i'll never forget it i saw god heal a dog once um a broken leg on a dog which was extraordinary and and so i've seen i've seen an experienced miraculous like you have done and there's an experience to god which is which is literally unbelievable because it is extraordinary it is supernatural beyond what we can logically create do you mean and it's it's for us it's just like it's just the nature of god it is the love of god it is the uh the explosion of god onto a scene isn't it and he just goes watch out boys i'm here you know and you're kind of like wow there's god doing it's good thing sometimes it's a process uh like i say sometimes it doesn't happen this side of heaven but there are still times where god does the miraculous and suddenly everything just goes bananas and uh he shows up and does the most incredible things um i've got a good friend kari june's actually been on the live stream his wife's been on the livestream but kari he got instantly set free of a drug addiction just bam like that just went to a church meeting drug addict came out completely completely free i mean there may if you know curry you might go there's a few other things that maybe god could have helped him with but no it was the drug thing and it was cool um but it you know all these stories that you experience as you walk with god are amazing so part of the thing today was just to share the stories from chris and beth because we're excited to hear what god's doing over there just to catch up with chris and beth you know we love those guys um and just to say just to do something a bit out of the ordinary and say god is real and you can still experience him and he does still do the suddenly uh and don't discount that just don't discount that and um if it would make total sense damn wouldn't it at the end of all of this if i put this back on screen say listen if there is anything you would like us to pray about uh whether it is sickness whether it's whatever it is and you you need some help from from the good lord um it's not a guarantee that is uh john harding is gonna talk about emotional strength as in how to how you get through the wall uh based on the book emotional spiritual spiritual emotion i can't remember the exact title of the book anyway uh that's going to be a great topic we've got like i say the launch of the what's the story podcast where esther richards is going to share part of her story around her problems with mental health and how god has walked her through some of the most incredible times um and i'm going to explain in that podcast more about what's the story so do check that out that one i know is the last week of august that one i do know is going out the first week of september we actually have your beautiful wife dan doing a talk and she is currently as we as we talk now in the future live not live she is live preparing her talk she's in a different room finalizing the talk which is uh fantastic and it's going to be lisa's first time with us on crowd and i'm super excited uh dan tell the good folks what she is going to be talking about she's going to talk about mental health what does god say about mental health oh yes and so there's a bit of a theme actually an unplanned theme around the whole topic of mental health which seems to be coming out over these sort of few weeks um and so do stay connected with that it's going to be a fantastic talk i have no doubt then we've got prince thomas who is just an absolute legend uh talking asking the question what does the bible say about itself that will mark the end of the what does the bible say about series uh and it has been going over a year down to go with your question from earlier over a year we have been looking at what does the bible say about dot dot i thought it would be a little six week thing uh because we every week we get emails from people going hang on how do i do dot dot how do i do so over august i'm doing the talk how do i get to know god or how do i get to know god more because i get at least two or three emails from people saying how do i how do i know this god how do i get to know him so do check out that talk um and so we were like well let's just do let's answer the questions that we get sent in with what does the bible say about suffering what does the bible say about healing what does the bible say about mental health and so on and so forth to answer all of those questions so it started out as a six week thing has gone on and on and on and it's been phenomenal uh has been phenomenal and then after that in mid-september we're starting a brand new series called origin where we look at where it all began the start of probably one of the most influential and incredible and most extraordinary movements the world has ever seen and it's impacted history like nothing else which is obviously the birth of christianity and so we're going to look at the start of that we're going to look at origin so we're going to go through the gospel of john which chronicles the life of christ we're going to do that quite quickly um and then we are going to hit the book of acts where we're going to slow down and we're going to look at the birth of the early church we're going to read all
